Bumper month for UK property exhibitions

Highlighting the popularity of London homes among buyers and investors in Singapore, a number of new developments in the UK capital will be launched at property exhibitions in the city-state this month.

It was earlier reported that London tops the list of property havens for Singaporeans keen on lucrative investments. Average values of homes in prime central London have risen 12.6 percent since 2012 based on CBRE data.

Among the developments coming to town is One The Elephant, a new landmark in London’s prime zone 1 neighbourhood. Its developer Lend Lease revealed that the project will be launched in Singapore this weekend (12-13 January).

One The Elephant will comprise 284 studio to three-bedroom units within a 37-storey tower and four-storey pavilion. Apartments in the first release will be sold from £322,500 (S$640,430) onwards.

Home builder Barratt will also unveil its latest addition to luxurious waterside living in London – the Fulham Riverside along the picturesque River Thames.

To be developed in two phases, Fulham Riverside will feature 463 residences and a new superstore. The project will be showcased on 19 to 20 January at the Regent Hotel, Singapore.

Meanwhile, Wessex House at One Tower Bridge, a much-anticipated development by Berkeley Homes, will be unveiled at an exhibition at The St Regis Singapore from 25 to 27 January.

The 353-unit development offers 82 luxury apartments ranging from one- to three-bedders including three penthouses. The first units will be completed in 2016 and prices start from £875,000 (S$1.73 million).

Romesh Navaratnarajah, Senior Editor at PropertyGuru, said: “It’s a little surprising that there are many UK property launches in Singapore in the month of January given that it’s a traditionally quiet time for home buying among local buyers, with sales usually picking up only after Chinese New Year.”

“UK developers could be testing the Singapore market given the strong demand for prime central London properties last year that came from Asian purchasers.”
