BEDOK Mall, part of an integrated retail-residential-transport development in the East is set to open in the fourth quarter of 2013.
About 30 per cent of the mall has been leased to tenants such as FairPrice Finest, Best Denki, Canton Paradise, RamenPlay and Din Tai Fung.
Developed by CapitaLand and CapitaMalls Asia, the mall has a total net lettable area of 220,000 square feet, about the size of Junction 8, and will have 250 shops across three floors.
"Being a well-integrated development in one of Singapore's largest HDB estates in the East, it will certainly help Best Denki fulfil its mission to its customers," said C J Raj, managing director of Best Denki, one of the anchor tenants in the mall.
The mall will be connected to the Bedok transport hub, comprising the Bedok MRT station and the new Bedok bus interchange. A linkway at the mall's basement two level will provide access for shoppers and MRT commuters. The bus interchange will be housed above the mall on Level 2 and will start operations in 2014.
Bedok Residences, the 583-unit condominium which is part of the integrated development, was launched in November 2011 and is about 90 per cent sold.
"Located at the heart of Bedok, Bedok Mall and Bedok Residences will play a key role in revitalising the town centre. The integrated development will complement the existing offerings in the town centre and be integrated seamlessly with the new town plaza," said Philip Yim, general manager of Bedok Mall and Bedok Residences.
