Bank loans up slightly last month

TOTAL bank loans last month inched up by 1 per cent from January, according to statistics released by the Monetary Authority of Singapore yesterday.

At the end of February, there were $426.4 billion worth of bank loans outstanding, a 28 per cent jump from the same month last year.

The year-on-year growth for bank loans peaked in September, when loans grew by 31 per cent in a 20-year high, and have been gradually moderating...
