HDB to 'green' Jurong East homes in pilot eco project

THE Housing Board is planning to incorporate environmentally friendly features in neighbourhoods across the island.


It will first try this out in a Jurong East neighbourhood, which will be given water- and energy-saving facilities; under a Green Home Package, residents will be able to choose from an array of energy- saving home appliances.


Eco-friendly forms of transport will also be promoted.


Minister of State for National Development Lee Yi Shyan, speaking yesterday in Parliament, announced this programme, handily named Greenprint, as he outlined HDB's wider push for a higher quality of life in its estates.
