1. The Tampines Court HUDC Estate has completed the privatisation process and converted to a strata titled estate, with effect from 1 April 2002.
2. With the conversion to a strata titled property, the Tampines Town Council has ceased its responsibility in the management and maintenance of the common properties of the estate. The Management Corporation Strata Title Plan No. 2644 is also constituted on the same day to manage and maintain the common property of the estate.
3. Flat owners in the estate now own their respective strata units as well as the common property such as the car parks and open landscaped areas as tenants-in-common. They also enjoy the status and privileges of private residential property owners. In addition, the estate has been granted condominium status.
4. Privatisation of HUDC estates was announced in 1995 as part of the Government's effort to meet the rising aspirations of Singaporeans for better housing. It also enables the lessees to have better control over the management and improvement to their estate. Under the privatisation exercise, HUDC lessees in the designated estates will be allowed to convert their leases to strata titles, if at least 75% of the lessees support the exercise.
